Founded in 1993, Chrysalis Ventures is Kentucky's largest venture capital firm and a leading source of equity capital for young growth companies in the Southeast and Midwest.
 
Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation, London, Kentucky, has been investing in growing Kentucky companies since 1965 using a combination of debt and equity. KHIC has investments in or loans to 75 companies in Kentucky. In 2003 KHIC, in partnership with Technology 2020, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, founded the Southern Appalachian Fund to invest in high-growth ventures throughout Kentucky and Tennessee and the northern portions of Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.
 

Launched in 2005 with more than $5 million in funding, the Kentucky Seed Capital Fund invests in early-stage Kentucky businesses that specialize in biomedical products, health-care services, medical devices, and health-care information technology. KSCF invests at a company¹s earliest stages, providing critical capital at a stage of development when there are few capital sources, developing a pipeline of investment opportunities for later-stage venture funds. In its first year of operation, the KSCF invested in three promising companies, all of which emerged from research at Kentucky universities. KSCF has offices in the Louisville Medical Center and at UK¹s Coldstream Research Campus.

 

KSTC is an entrepreneurial company dedicated to enhancing the capacity of people, companies and organizations to develop and apply science and technology and compete responsibly in the global marketplace.

 

KTI, founded in 1988, by the University of Kentucky Research Foundation, as a for-profit, small business, to assist the achievement of the University’s economic development mission by managing incubator space located on the main campus and on Coldstream Research Campus, facilitating venture funding in start-up businesses, and co-developing the Kentucky Technology Center on the Coldstream Research Campus.

 

River Cities Capital Funds is a $300 million family of three venture capital funds based in Cincinnati, Ohio, with an office in Raleigh, North Carolina. We invest primarily in early to middle stage companies, located in the Midwest and Southeast, that operate in a variety of high growth industries. We have a staff of thirteen: nine investment professionals and four people in administrative support roles.
